22nd U.S. Army Missile Detachment

The 22nd U.S. Army Missile Detachment was a specialized unit of the United States Army during the Cold War, tasked with providing technical support and custodial control over nuclear-capable missile systems deployed with NATO allies. Activated in the late 1950s, the detachment was primarily stationed in West Germany, working closely with allied forces to operate and maintain systems such as the Honest John and Sergeant missiles. Their mission was crucial in ensuring readiness and secure handling of U.S. nuclear weapons under joint-use agreements.
