The 22nd Car Company was a United States Army transportation unit stationed at Supreme Headquarters Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) in Paris, France, during the early years of the Cold War. Activated in the 1950s, the company provided critical motor transport and logistical support for SHAPE personnel and operations, ensuring efficient movement of staff, equipment, and dignitaries throughout the Paris region. The unit played a vital role in maintaining the daily functions of NATO's central command as the alliance coordinated collective defense efforts in Western Europe. The 22nd Car Company remained active at SHAPE Paris until 1967, when NATO headquarters relocated to Belgium following France’s withdrawal from NATO’s integrated military structure.
