The 2nd Battalion, 28th Field Artillery Regiment (2-28 FA) traces its origins to its constitution in 1918 and subsequent activations during World War II and the Cold War. The unit provided critical field artillery support as part of the 8th Infantry Division during the European campaigns of World War II, earning campaign streamers for its distinguished service. In the decades that followed, 2-28 FA underwent various reactivations and redesignations, serving both in Germany and at U.S. installations as a training and support battalion. Today, 2-28 FA continues its legacy as part of the U.S. Army’s Fires community, dedicated to training and readiness for modern artillery operations.
