Golf Company, 2nd Battalion, 2nd Marines (2/2), known as "Golf 2/2," has a distinguished history within the United States Marine Corps. Originally activated in 1941, the battalion saw extensive combat during World War II in the Pacific Theater, including the Battle of Tarawa and the invasion of Saipan. In more recent decades, Golf Company has deployed in support of operations in the Middle East, including Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom in Afghanistan.
