The 2nd Battalion, 106th Infantry Regiment, is a unit within the historic 42nd Infantry Division, also known as the "Rainbow Division." The 106th Infantry traces its lineage to the New York National Guard, with origins dating back to World War I, and has participated in several major conflicts, including World War II. During World War II, elements of the 106th Infantry served in the European Theater, engaging in combat operations across France and Germany under the 42nd ID. Today, 2/106th Infantry continues to serve as a vital component of the New York Army National Guard, supporting both federal and state missions.
