The 20th Ordnance Detachment (Explosive Ordnance Disposal), commonly known as the 20th Ord Det (EOD), is a specialized U.S. Army unit tasked with the identification, disarmament, and disposal of explosive threats. Activated during the Cold War era, the unit has played a crucial role in supporting both domestic and overseas operations, including deployments in Iraq and Afghanistan. Its soldiers are highly trained in handling conventional, chemical, biological, and improvised explosive devices (IEDs). The detachment continues to provide vital EOD support to ensure the safety of military personnel and civilians alike.
