The 202nd Cavalry was a unit of the United States Army National Guard, primarily based in South Carolina. It was originally constituted as the 202nd Cavalry Regiment in 1968, inheriting the lineage of earlier cavalry units in the state. The unit served as a reconnaissance and armored cavalry squadron, supporting the 218th Infantry Brigade (Mechanized) during the Cold War era. The 202nd Cavalry was deactivated in 2008 as part of broader restructuring within the Army National Guard.
