The 201st Military Intelligence Battalion (MI BN) was first constituted on 12 July 1944 as the 201st Counter Intelligence Corps Detachment, serving with distinction in the European Theater during World War II. Reactivated and redesignated multiple times throughout its history, the unit has provided critical intelligence support in both peacetime and combat operations, including deployments during the Cold War, Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom. The battalion is renowned for its expertise in signals, human, and counterintelligence, supporting corps-level and joint task force commands. Stationed at Fort Sam Houston, Texas, the 201st MI Battalion continues to play a vital role in safeguarding national security through its intelligence collection and analysis missions.
