The 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment, known as the "Golden Dragons," traces its lineage back to its original constitution in 1861. The unit saw distinguished service in numerous conflicts, including the Civil War, Philippine-American War, World War II, and the Vietnam War, earning multiple campaign streamers and unit citations. During the Vietnam War, the 1st/14th Infantry was part of the 25th Infantry Division, conducting extensive combat and counterinsurgency operations. In recent decades, the battalion has been deployed to areas such as Iraq and Afghanistan, continuing its tradition of excellence and service as part of the U.S. Army’s modern expeditionary forces.
