**1ST Eng, 1st Inf Div (1st Engineer Battalion, 1st Infantry Division):** The 1st Engineer Battalion, part of the storied 1st Infantry Division (“The Big Red One”), is the oldest continuously serving engineer unit in the United States Army, tracing its lineage back to 1846. The battalion participated in major conflicts including the Mexican-American War, Civil War, World Wars I and II, Korea, Vietnam, and more recent operations in Iraq and Afghanistan. Renowned for its expertise in combat engineering, mobility, and breaching operations, the 1st Engineer Battalion has consistently supported maneuver forces through construction, demolition, and obstacle clearance. The unit’s enduring motto, “Never Broken by Hardship or Battle,” reflects its legacy of valor and resilience in the face of adversity.
