The 1st Battalion, 69th Armor Regiment, known as "Black Panthers," was originally constituted in 1940 and has a distinguished lineage within the U.S. Army. It first gained prominence during World War II, participating in key campaigns across Europe. The battalion later served in Vietnam, where it played a critical role in major operations including the Battle of Kontum. In recent decades, 1-69 Armor has deployed in support of Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, upholding its reputation for excellence and combat effectiveness.
