The 199th Aviation Company (199th AVN), originally constituted during the Vietnam War era, was activated to provide aerial reconnaissance, transport, and close support missions for ground forces. The unit operated a variety of rotary and fixed-wing aircraft, playing a vital role in combat operations, troop movements, and supply missions throughout Southeast Asia. Renowned for its adaptability and effectiveness, the 199th AVN earned several commendations for its service under challenging battlefield conditions. After Vietnam, the unit underwent several reorganizations, continuing its legacy of excellence in aviation support within the U.S. Army structure.
