The 197th Field Artillery (FA) traces its origins to the New Hampshire National Guard, with lineage dating back to the 19th century. During World War II, the unit was federalized and served with distinction in the Pacific Theater, providing crucial artillery support in campaigns such as Luzon and the liberation of the Philippines. In subsequent decades, the 197th FA has participated in both state and federal missions, including deployments in support of Operations Iraqi Freedom and Enduring Freedom. Today, the 197th Field Artillery continues its legacy of service as a vital component of the U.S. Army National Guard.
