The 1st Squadron, 6th Cavalry Regiment (1/6 CAV) has a distinguished history within the United States Army, tracing its roots back to the 19th century. The unit has served in numerous conflicts, including World War II, Vietnam, Operations Desert Storm, Iraqi Freedom, and Enduring Freedom, adapting over time from traditional cavalry to modern aviation roles. As part of the 3rd Infantry Division's Combat Aviation Brigade, Troop C, 5th Platoon (3:5), has specialized in reconnaissance and attack missions, often flying the AH-64 Apache helicopter.
