158th CAV

The 158th Cavalry Regiment (158th CAV) is a unit of the Maryland Army National Guard with a lineage dating back to 2006, when it was reorganized from existing units to provide reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition capabilities. As part of the 29th Infantry Division, the 158th CAV supported training and homeland security missions, as well as overseas deployments in support of the Global War on Terrorism. The regiment's soldiers participated in both domestic emergency response operations and federal activations. In 2015, the 158th Cavalry Regiment was inactivated, with its personnel and assets reallocated to other Maryland Army National Guard units.
