The 140th Infantry Regiment was originally organized in Missouri in 1917 as part of the 35th Division during World War I. The regiment fought with distinction in the Meuse-Argonne Offensive, one of the largest operations of the American Expeditionary Forces. Reactivated for World War II, the 140th Infantry performed stateside security and training duties but did not deploy overseas as a regiment. Postwar, the unit continued its service as part of the Missouri Army National Guard, upholding a legacy of readiness and commitment to both state and nation.
