**13th Evacuation Hospital (Semi-Mobile):** The 13th Evacuation Hospital (Semi-Mobile) was a United States Army medical unit activated during World War II, designed to provide surgical and medical care near combat zones. The unit followed advancing troops, notably supporting campaigns in the European Theater, including the Normandy invasion and subsequent operations across France and Germany. Its semi-mobile configuration allowed for rapid deployment and setup in changing battlefield conditions, ensuring timely treatment of casualties. Following the war, the 13th Evacuation Hospital was inactivated as part of the postwar drawdown. **44th General Hospital:** The 44th General Hospital was a US Army medical facility originally formed at Duke University and activated during World War II. It served overseas in the European Theater, treating thousands of wounded personnel in England and later in France after the D-Day invasion. The hospital provided comprehensive care, including surgery and long-term recovery, and earned commendations for its contributions to wartime medical support. After the cessation of hostilities, the 44th General Hospital was deactivated as the military demobilized.
