• Origins: The 13th Corps Support Command (COSCOM) was first activated on 24 June 1965 at Fort Hood, Texas, to provide logistical support for III Corps units. • Vietnam War Era: While the 13th COSCOM itself did not deploy to Vietnam, many of its subordinate units and soldiers supported the war effort both stateside and overseas. • Desert Storm: The unit deployed to Saudi Arabia during Operation Desert Shield and Operation Desert Storm (1990-1991), providing critical logistics support to coalition forces. • Nickname: The 13th COSCOM was known as "The Provider," highlighting its key role in sustaining combat power through logistics and support. • Transformation: In 2006, as part of the Army’s modular transformation, the 13th COSCOM was redesignated as the 13th Sustainment Command (Expeditionary). • Distinctive Unit Insignia: The unit’s insignia features a blue and white wheel, symbolizing transportation and supply, central to the unit’s mission. • Humanitarian Missions: The 13th COSCOM participated in disaster relief, including Hurricane Katrina operations in 2005, supporting military and civilian recovery efforts. • Support in Iraq: During Operation Iraqi Freedom, the 13th COSCOM deployed multiple times, managing logistics hubs and supply chains across the Iraqi theater. • Women in Command: The 13th COSCOM was among the first major Army logistics commands to have women in senior leadership roles, reflecting the evolving role of women in the military. • Unit Motto: “One Team, One Fight!”—This motto embodies the unit’s commitment to teamwork and mission accomplishment, both in peace and war.
