The 138th Field Artillery traces its origins to the Kentucky National Guard and was first organized in 1917 for service in World War I. The unit served with distinction in Europe as part of the 38th Division, providing crucial artillery support during major campaigns. After federal service in World War II, the 138th was reorganized and has since participated in both state and federal missions, including responses to natural disasters and overseas deployments. Today, the 138th Field Artillery continues to serve as a vital component of the Kentucky Army National Guard, upholding a legacy of readiness and service.
