The 13th Signal Company, originally activated as part of the 1st Cavalry Division, was tasked with providing critical battlefield communications during World War II and the Korean War. In the 1960s, the unit was redesignated as the 142nd Signal Company and attached to the 2nd Armored Division, enhancing its capabilities to support armored warfare operations with advanced radio and wire communications. Throughout the Cold War, the unit played a vital role in NATO exercises, maintaining secure and reliable lines of communication across Europe. Over its history, the unit earned numerous commendations for excellence in both combat and peacetime operations, exemplifying adaptability and technical expertise in the U.S. Army Signal Corps.
