The 1st Battalion, 23rd Infantry Regiment ("Tomahawks") is a distinguished unit within the 2nd Infantry Division of the United States Army. Originally constituted in 1866, the regiment has served in numerous major conflicts, including the Indian Wars, World War II, the Korean War, and the Global War on Terrorism. During the Korean War, as part of the 2nd Infantry Division, 1/23 Infantry played key roles in significant battles such as the Pusan Perimeter, the drive to the Yalu River, and the defense of the 38th Parallel.
