The 121st Assault Helicopter Company (Airmobile) was activated in 1962 and deployed to Soc Trang, in the Mekong Delta region of South Vietnam. Known as the "Soc Trang Tigers," the unit provided critical air mobility, troop transport, medevac, and gunship support for U.S. and ARVN forces throughout the southern delta during the Vietnam War. Flying UH-1 "Huey" helicopters, the 121st participated in countless combat assaults, resupply missions, and rescue operations under challenging conditions. The company earned a reputation for bravery and professionalism before being redeployed and inactivated as U.S. involvement in Vietnam wound down.
