The 11th Airborne Division, known as the "Angels," was activated in 1943 during World War II. It played a pivotal role in the Pacific Theater, notably participating in the liberation of the Philippines and the Battle of Luzon. After the war, the division was among the first Allied units to land in Japan as part of the occupation force. Reactivated in later years, the 11th Airborne continues its legacy as a rapid-response airborne and Arctic-capable unit in the United States Army.
