The 108th Cavalry Regiment traces its origins to 1921, formed as part of the National Guard with units in Georgia and Louisiana. During World War II, the regiment’s elements were reorganized and served in various reconnaissance and security roles, supporting operations in both the European and Pacific Theaters. After the war, the unit underwent several reorganizations, reflecting changes in Army structure and doctrine, ultimately becoming a reconnaissance, surveillance, and target acquisition (RSTA) unit within the modern Army National Guard. The 108th Cavalry has participated in numerous training exercises and overseas deployments, continuing its legacy of adaptability and service.
