The 102nd Medical Battalion was originally constituted during World War I to provide critical medical support to U.S. Army forces in combat. Reactivated and reorganized for World War II, the battalion supported the 27th Infantry Division, offering frontline medical care during campaigns in the Pacific Theater, including battles in the Gilbert, Marshall, and Mariana Islands. Throughout its service, the 102nd Medical Battalion was responsible for evacuating and treating wounded soldiers under challenging conditions, often operating close to active combat zones. After World War II, the battalion continued its legacy of service as part of the Army National Guard, maintaining readiness for both wartime and domestic emergency missions.
