The 1st Battalion, 52nd Infantry Regiment, known as the "Ready Rifles," traces its origins to the formation of the 52nd Infantry in 1917. The battalion saw distinguished service during World War II, participating in campaigns in North Africa and Europe, including the Rhineland and Central Europe. During the Vietnam War, it was reactivated and played a key role in numerous operations, earning multiple unit commendations. In recent decades, the 1-52 IN has served as a Stryker battalion in Alaska, supporting operations in Iraq and Afghanistan as part of the U.S. Army's modern rapid deployment forces.
