The 1st Battalion, 51st Infantry Regiment (1-51 IN) was originally constituted on 15 May 1917 in the Regular Army and organized at Chickamauga Park, Georgia. It served with distinction in World War II as part of the 4th Armored Division, participating in campaigns across Northern France, Rhineland, Ardennes-Alsace, and Central Europe. During the Cold War, the battalion was stationed in Germany, providing security and conducting infantry operations along the front lines of NATO.
