Sioux City, Iowa Air Base

Sioux City Air Base, located in Sioux City, Iowa, was established during World War II as Sioux City Army Air Base in 1942. Originally, it served as a training center for B-17 Flying Fortress and B-24 Liberator bomber crews, playing a crucial role in preparing airmen for combat in the European and Pacific theaters. After the war, the base was deactivated but later reactivated during the Cold War, becoming home to Air National Guard units, most notably the 185th Air Refueling Wing.
