Security Forces(USAF)

• The United States Air Force Security Forces is responsible for protecting and defending Air Force resources and personnel around the world. • Security Forces personnel are trained in combat tactics, weapons proficiency, law enforcement, and anti-terrorism measures. • They are often deployed to high threat areas to secure air bases and provide protection for aircraft and personnel. • In 1997, Staff Sergeant Alfred B. Nietzel became the first Security Forces member to receive the Air Force Cross for heroism in combat during the Vietnam War. • Security Forces have been involved in numerous peacekeeping missions, including those in Bosnia, Kosovo, and Somalia. • In 2016, the Security Forces career field celebrated its 75th anniversary, marking the unit's long history of service and dedication. • Security Forces personnel undergo rigorous training and must pass demanding physical fitness tests to ensure they are prepared for any situation. • They are often the first line of defense against threats to Air Force bases, including terrorist attacks and sabotage attempts. • Security Forces work closely with other branches of the military, as well as federal and local law enforcement agencies, to protect Air Force assets and personnel. • Many Security Forces members go on to pursue careers in law enforcement or private security after completing their service in the Air Force.
