The 6910th Security Wing (USAFSS) was activated in 1974 as part of the United States Air Force Security Service (USAFSS), a command specializing in signals intelligence (SIGINT) and electronic security during the Cold War. Headquartered at Augsburg, West Germany, the 6910th managed several subordinate units, directing operations focused on intercepting and analyzing Warsaw Pact communications and electronic emissions. The wing played a crucial role in providing real-time intelligence to both USAF and NATO commands, significantly enhancing situational awareness and threat assessment in Europe.
