The Air Force Safety Center (AFSEC) was established in 1995, consolidating multiple Air Force safety functions under a single organization at Kirtland Air Force Base, New Mexico. AFSEC is responsible for developing and managing Air Force-wide safety programs, including aviation, occupational, weapons, space, and mishap investigations. The center works to preserve combat capability by preventing mishaps and ensuring the well-being of Airmen and resources.
