The 965th Airborne Air Control Squadron (965 AWACS), based at Tinker Air Force Base, Oklahoma, is a key component of the United States Air Force's airborne command and control capability. Activated in 1961, the squadron operates the E-3 Sentry Airborne Warning and Control System (AWACS) aircraft, providing all-weather surveillance, command, control, and communications for tactical and air defense forces. Throughout its history, the 965th has participated in numerous operations, including Desert Storm, Enduring Freedom, and Iraqi Freedom, supporting both homeland defense and overseas missions.
