The 506th Expeditionary Civil Engineer Squadron (506th ECES) is a United States Air Force unit that has played a vital role in supporting expeditionary operations, particularly in the Middle East. Activated as part of the 506th Air Expeditionary Group, the squadron was stationed at Kirkuk Regional Air Base, Iraq, during Operation Iraqi Freedom. The 506th ECES provided critical base infrastructure support, including construction, maintenance, and emergency response, enabling sustained air operations in a challenging environment. Their efforts contributed significantly to force protection, mission capability, and the eventual transition of the base to Iraqi control.
