4783rd Surveillance Squadron

The 4783rd Surveillance Squadron was a United States Air Force unit activated during the early years of the Cold War. Established in the late 1950s, the squadron was tasked with operating radar and electronic surveillance systems as part of the nation's air defense network. Stationed primarily at Thule Air Base, Greenland, the 4783rd played a critical role in monitoring North American airspace for potential Soviet incursions over the polar region.
