4624TH AIR BASE SQUADRON(SAGE)(ADC)

The 4624th Air Base Squadron (SAGE) was a United States Air Force unit assigned to the Air Defense Command (ADC) during the early years of the Cold War. Activated in the late 1950s, the squadron played a key support role at SAGE (Semi-Automatic Ground Environment) facilities, which were central to North America's air defense network against potential Soviet bomber attacks. The unit provided essential base operations and logistical support to the personnel and systems operating the advanced radar and computer networks.
