The **456th Munitions Maintenance Squadron (MMS)** was an integral support unit stationed at Nakhon Phanom Royal Thai Air Force Base (NKP), Thailand, during the Vietnam War. Activated to provide critical munitions storage, handling, and maintenance, the 456th MMS supported a wide array of U.S. Air Force operations, including the arming of AC-119 and AC-130 gunships for interdiction missions over the Ho Chi Minh Trail. The squadron played a vital role in ensuring the reliability and availability of ordnance, contributing to the effectiveness of air operations in Southeast Asia. Following the drawdown of U.S. forces in Thailand, the 456th MMS was inactivated as part of the base's closure in the mid-1970s.
