433rd Airlift Wing

• The 433rd Airlift Wing is based at Joint Base San Antonio-Lackland, Texas. • The wing was activated on November 3, 1965, as the 433rd Troop Carrier Wing, later redesignated as an airlift wing in 1992. • During the Vietnam War, the 433rd Troop Carrier Wing provided airlift support for combat operations in Southeast Asia. • The 433rd Airlift Wing has a long history of supporting humanitarian missions, including disaster relief efforts and medical evacuation missions. • In 2008, the wing deployed personnel and aircraft to support relief efforts in the aftermath of Hurricane Ike, providing critical airlift capabilities to transport supplies and personnel to affected areas. • During Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom, the 433rd Airlift Wing provided airlift support for troops and supplies in the Middle East. • The wing has a proud history of excellence in airdrop operations, including precision drops of cargo and personnel in combat zones. • In 2013, the 433rd Airlift Wing was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for its exceptional performance and contributions to the Air Force mission. • The wing has a close partnership with the Texas Air National Guard, working together on various training exercises and missions to enhance readiness and effectiveness. • Throughout its history, the 433rd Airlift Wing has consistently demonstrated professionalism, dedication, and a commitment to excellence in serving the Air Force and the nation.
