The 42nd Tactical Electronic Warfare Squadron (42nd TEWS) was an integral unit of the United States Air Force specializing in electronic warfare operations. Activated during the Vietnam War era, the squadron operated aircraft such as the EB-66 Destroyer, providing vital electronic countermeasure support to protect strike packages and disrupt enemy radar and communications. The 42nd TEWS played a crucial role in suppressing enemy air defenses, ensuring the safety of allied aircraft during high-risk missions. The squadron was eventually inactivated as electronic warfare capabilities evolved and platforms were modernized in the post-war years.
