The 4045th Combat Defense Squadron was a United States Air Force unit established to provide security and ground defense for Strategic Air Command (SAC) installations. Activated in the late 1950s, the squadron was assigned to the 4045th Air Refueling Wing at Selfridge Air Force Base, Michigan. Its primary mission involved protecting vital resources, including aircraft and nuclear assets, during the heightened tensions of the Cold War. The unit remained active until the early 1960s, when it was inactivated as part of a broader reorganization of SAC security forces.
