329th Fighter Squadron

The 329th Fighter Squadron was first activated in 1942 as part of the United States Army Air Forces during World War II. Initially assigned to the 328th Fighter Group, the squadron trained pilots and provided air defense along the U.S. West Coast, flying aircraft such as the P-39 Airacobra and P-51 Mustang. During its service, the 329th contributed to the preparedness of American fighter forces but was inactivated in 1944 as the focus shifted overseas.
