314th Airlift Wing

• The 314th Airlift Wing was activated on November 7, 1949 as the 314th Troop Carrier Wing. • During the Korean War, the 314th Troop Carrier Wing participated in the airborne assault on Sukchon-Sunchon to drop supplies to UN Forces. • In 1973, the 314th Troop Carrier Wing was redesignated as the 314th Tactical Airlift Wing. • The 314th Airlift Wing has participated in numerous military operations, including Operation Urgent Fury in Grenada and Operation Just Cause in Panama. • The 314th Airlift Wing was awarded the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award with Combat "V" device for its actions in Operation Just Cause. • In 1991, the 314th Airlift Wing provided airlift support during Operation Desert Storm in the Persian Gulf. • The 314th Airlift Wing has also supported humanitarian missions, including relief operations in Haiti, Bosnia, and Africa. • The 314th Airlift Wing is based at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas and operates the C-130 Hercules aircraft. • The 314th Airlift Wing has a long history of excellence and has earned numerous awards and commendations for its service. • The 314th Airlift Wing continues to serve as a vital part of the United States Air Force, providing airlift capabilities for a variety of missions around the world.
