About 310th Space Wing

The 310th Space Wing is a United States Air Force unit based at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado. It is responsible for commanding and controlling satellite operations, including GPS and missile warning systems. The wing also provides space-based capabilities for global and theater operations, as well as support for combatant commanders. The 310th Space Wing plays a key role in ensuring military communications, navigation, and surveillance capabilities are maintained and protected in the space domain.

• The 310th Space Wing was activated on July 16, 1992 • It is based at Schriever Air Force Base in Colorado • The 310th Space Wing is responsible for the operation and maintenance of communication, surveillance, and navigation satellites • During Operation Desert Storm in 1991, members of the 310th Space Wing provided critical satellite support to coalition forces • One of the units under the 310th Space Wing, the 6th Space Operations Squadron, operates the Advanced Extremely High Frequency (AEHF) satellite constellation • In 2017, the 310th Space Wing launched the first Space Based Infrared System (SBIRS) satellite • The 310th Space Wing has received numerous awards and decorations for its exceptional service, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award • Members of the 310th Space Wing have deployed around the world in support of various operations and contingencies • In 2005, the 310th Space Wing played a critical role in providing satellite communications support to areas affected by Hurricane Katrina • The 310th Space Wing continues to be at the forefront of space operations, working to enhance and protect US national security interests
