305th Air Mobility Wing

• The 305th Air Mobility Wing was activated on October 1, 1992 at McGuire Air Force Base in New Jersey. • During World War II, the 305th Bombardment Group was activated in 1942 and flew B-17 Flying Fortress bombers in combat missions over Europe. • In 2012, the 305th Air Mobility Wing received the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award for their exceptional performance and achievements. • The wing has a long history of providing air transportation and logistical support for various missions around the world, including humanitarian relief efforts and combat operations. • In 2001, the 305th Air Mobility Wing played a crucial role in airlifting supplies and personnel to New York City in the aftermath of the 9/11 terrorist attacks. • The wing has participated in numerous joint military exercises and deployments, working closely with other branches of the U.S. military as well as allied nations. • The 305th Air Mobility Wing is equipped with a variety of aircraft, including C-17 Globemaster III and KC-10 Extender planes, which are used for airlift and aerial refueling missions. • Members of the 305th Air Mobility Wing have received numerous awards and decorations for their outstanding service, including the Distinguished Flying Cross and Bronze Star Medal. • The wing has a proud tradition of excellence and professionalism, upholding the highest standards of the U.S. Air Force in all of their operations. • In 2018, the 305th Air Mobility Wing celebrated their 25th anniversary, reflecting on their many accomplishments and looking forward to continued success in the future.
