The 28th Civil Engineer Squadron (28th CES) is a unit of the United States Air Force assigned to the 28th Mission Support Group at Ellsworth Air Force Base, South Dakota. The squadron traces its heritage to the activation of Ellsworth AFB and has played a vital role in supporting bomber operations, including those of the B-52 Stratofortress and later, the B-1B Lancer. The 28th CES is responsible for base infrastructure, emergency management, and rapid airfield repair capabilities, ensuring mission readiness during both peacetime and contingency operations.
