19th Airlift Wing

• The 19th Airlift Wing was activated in 1948 as the 19th Bombardment Wing, flying B-29 Superfortresses during the Korean War. • During the Vietnam War, the 19th Bombardment Wing flew B-52 Stratofortresses out of Andersen Air Force Base in Guam. • In 1991, the wing was redesignated as the 19th Airlift Wing and began flying C-130 Hercules aircraft. • The 19th Airlift Wing played a crucial role in Operation Provide Promise, delivering humanitarian aid to war-torn Bosnia in the 1990s. • In 2002, the wing deployed C-130s to Afghanistan in support of Operation Enduring Freedom. • In 2005, the 19th Airlift Wing provided relief efforts after Hurricane Katrina, delivering supplies and evacuating victims. • In 2010, the wing deployed C-130s to Haiti after a devastating earthquake to provide humanitarian aid and evacuation support. • The 19th Airlift Wing has received numerous awards and accolades for its missions, including the Air Force Outstanding Unit Award and the Humanitarian Service Medal. • The wing is based at Little Rock Air Force Base in Arkansas and is known for its rapid response capabilities and strategic airlift missions. • Today, the 19th Airlift Wing continues to be a vital asset to the United States Air Force, providing global airlift and humanitarian support as needed.
