The 17th Defense Systems Evaluation Squadron (17th DSES) was a United States Air Force unit primarily tasked with providing electronic warfare training and evaluation for air defense systems. Activated in 1955, the squadron operated various aircraft, including the EB-57 Canberra, to simulate enemy threats and test radar and missile systems. Stationed at several bases, including Malmstrom Air Force Base in Montana, the 17th DSES played a crucial role during the Cold War, ensuring U.S. air defense readiness.
