The 169th Fighter Wing is a unit of the South Carolina Air National Guard, stationed at McEntire Joint National Guard Base near Columbia, South Carolina. Established in 1957, the Wing has a proud history of air defense and tactical missions, originally flying F-86 Sabres and later transitioning to aircraft such as the F-16 Fighting Falcon. The unit has participated in numerous operations, including Operation Desert Storm, Operation Enduring Freedom, and Operation Iraqi Freedom, providing both air superiority and close air support capabilities. Renowned for its professionalism and operational excellence, the 169th Fighter Wing continues to play a vital role in national defense and international missions.
