The 15th Special Operations Squadron (15th SOS) is a unit of the United States Air Force under Air Force Special Operations Command (AFSOC), based at Hurlburt Field, Florida. Originally activated as the 15th Bombardment Squadron in 1942, it flew combat missions during World War II in the European Theater. Re-designated and activated in its special operations role in 1971, the squadron has operated various aircraft, notably the MC-130H Combat Talon II, to support infiltration, exfiltration, and resupply of special operations forces. Throughout its history, the 15th SOS has participated in numerous operations, including humanitarian missions and direct action, earning a reputation for precision and versatility in demanding environments.
