The 144th Airlift Squadron is a unit of the Alaska Air National Guard, based at Joint Base Elmendorf-Richardson, Alaska. Established in 1952 as the 8144th Air Base Squadron, it was soon redesignated and became part of the 176th Wing. Over its history, the squadron has operated a variety of aircraft, including the C-130 Hercules, and has supported missions ranging from tactical airlift and humanitarian relief to disaster response and search-and-rescue operations. The 144th Airlift Squadron has played a vital role in both state and federal missions, contributing to operations in Alaska and beyond.
