12th Flying Training Wing

• The 12th Flying Training Wing was activated on January 15, 1941 at Brooks Field, Texas. • During World War II, the wing trained more than 8,000 pilots for the Army Air Forces. • In 1965, the 12th Flying Training Wing was reactivated at Randolph Air Force Base, Texas. • The wing provides undergraduate pilot training for all Air Force, Air Force Reserve, and Air National Guard student pilots. • One of the aircraft used for training by the wing is the T-6 Texan II, a single-engine turboprop trainer. • The 559th Flying Training Squadron is one of the squadrons assigned to the 12th Flying Training Wing. • The wing has a long and storied history of producing skilled and competent pilots for the Air Force. • Several members of the 12th Flying Training Wing have gone on to become high-ranking officers in the Air Force. • The wing has received numerous awards and accolades for its outstanding performance in training pilots. • The 12th Flying Training Wing continues to play a critical role in training the next generation of Air Force pilots.
